Hey All:
I want to install a connection that will allow us to hose off after swimming on the transom. I've seen one CD that has a hose bib installed, starboard side, under the gunwhale. I believe this to be just a cold water connection.
I was hoping to hear/read what other CD's might have installed. Maybe hot water as well? Where the source is coming from?
Thanks.

| Shawn: We went cheap. I replaced the corroded head sink faucet with a Lowe's unit (used on laundry tubs). Select a unit that has a threaded bib that will accept a garden hose. I run a 25' white hose out the window and aft. Be sure to tie off the hose at the port hole so some kid cannot jerk the hose and tear off the bib. Works well for rinsing off swimmers and washing down the boat, but not enough pressure to blast off a muddy anchor. Next haulout, I am going to install a salt water system to clean off the anchor. No BP oil in Panama City Florida--yet. |

Shawn,
Walkabout (Hull 153) has a fresh water, cold only, hose bib on the aft starboard side of the deck house. The water supply comes from a "T" fitting (with a cut off valve) in the fresh water feed hose under the galley sink, power, water pressure, is a water puppy vane pump under the cockpit floor which has its own, isolated, power supply. The system works well for a fresh water rinse off for swimmers or the boat and has enough power to rinse mud off the anchor and anchor chain. For the anchor and anchor chain, I'd rather have a salt water system up forward, and one of these days I will put one in, I think, maybe, when I get around to it.

| Thanks for the replies. Bill, I think I like how you tapped off the galley sink cold line. Maybe you could provide a little more info on the pump you installed. Softshell already has pressurized water, so I'm not sure if I could install another pump downstream. What do you think? |

Shawn,
The pump is an ITT Jabsco Water Puppy General Purpose Vane Pump. A rugged little pump that will deliver 6 gal. per min. through a half inch hose. It is an on/off pump, no pressure switch, I turn it on, use a hose nozzel to control water flow, turn it off when done. Of course I do have to remember to open and close the diverter valve and, when I am using the wash down which has its own power supply, I turn off the main water pump. Not real convenient but it works.
